Cyber Threats Faced by Public Entities
Local government entities are a storehouse of personal information. As such, they are perfect targets for hackers seeking confidential and sensitive information, such as social security numbers, driver’s licenses, medical and other information. Along with economic fallout, cyber events can be a public relations quagmire for a public entity. Additionally, many public entities do not have cyber insurance, or are not adequately covered by their insurance program. About the speakers:
Michael Otworth is the vice president and home office claims manager for Genesis Management & Insurance Services Corporation. Mike has been with the Gen Re Group for the past 27 years. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio University, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of New Haven and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
Ben Eggert is an attorney and partner at Wiley Rein, LLP. He oversees complex insurance coverage litigation matters and provides strategic advice to clients on a broad range of insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and bad faith matters. Ben has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and holds a juris doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He is a member of the District of Columbia State Bar and the Virginia State Bar. In 2013, Ben was named one of Washington, DC’s “Super Lawyers” for insurance coverage by Super Lawyers magazine.
